ESA completes the offer of supervision using XP based (Windows XP Embedded and Windows XP Professional) devices with PC-USB interface cards, which allow the use of Polymath Machine Edition on any PC, with the possibility of using all Polymath drivers.
The PC-USB cards are not merely adaptors, they are true and proper interface cards equipped with a dedicated microprocessor that, in a completely independent way, manages communications towards the field of use in a manner that totally relieves the master PC from this task, and guarantees that communication time with various protocols is respected, independently from the PC load.
Choosing the USB interface as a standard means of communication towards the PC also guarantees compatibility with any PC present on the market (Industrial, Office and Notebook), at a decisively competitive price.
ESA offers three different USB interface models for Polymath Machine Edition:
PC-USB SP: serial version with RS232/RS485 interface towards the field of use and ESA pinout, capable of supporting all serial drivers present in Polymath and Siemens MPI (at both 187.500 KBit/s and 1.5Mbit/s)
PC-USB DP: version capable of supporting Profibus DP-Slave
PC-USB CAN: version capable of supporting CANOpen, Devicenet protocols, as well as any other CAN based driver
It is also possible to connect up to two PC-USB cards to the same PC allowing a Polymath Machine Edition to communicate contemporarily with two different drivers (e.g. PLC - Inverter) and even allows management of the exchange of data between different devices by using the PC as a "protocol converter".
